Antibody Microarray for Protein Expression & Phosphorylation
For only $1 per protein, Kinexus can track the signaling pathways regulated in your experimental model systems! The Kinex™ Antibody Microarray Service is a cost-effective strategy for the simultaneous detection and quantitation of the expression levels & phosphorylation states of over 600 cell signaling proteins in 2 samples in duplicate. The Microarray contains 258 phospho-site and 350 pan-specific antibodies against protein kinases, phosphatases, cell cycle, stress and apoptosis proteins. All leads can be validated with our Kinetworks™ Services. Call for more information 1-866-KINEXUS or email info@kinexus.ca. |

Tropical Disease Research Funding
Call for applications
Drug discovery research in the following areas:
- HTS against validated targets or appropriate model system
- Natural product-based lead discovery in developing countries
- PK/metabolism centers for preliminary assessment of TDR lead compounds
The genomics and discovery research unit (GDR) of the UNICEF/UNDP/World Bank/WHO Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (TDR) is involved in the search for novel agents for the TDR target diseases - malaria, leishmaniasis, schistosomiasis, lymphatic filariasis and onchocerciasis, African trypanosomiasis and Chagas disease, and tuberculosis.
Applications will be reviewed by the GDR Committee (May 10-12, 2006). With respect to investigator-initiated projects, the committee will consider research proposals for up to $70000 per year.
New opportunity in TDR for funding Vector Research on Human African Trypanosomiasis.
The main objectives of the Molecular Entomology Committee (BCV) at TDR have been expanded in an effort to continue to support disease vectors research aiming at interrupting transmission of pathogens responsible for malaria, dengue and Human African Trypanosomiasis (HAT), through the exploitation of advances in molecular biology and genomics.

MULTIPLE PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR INITIATIVE LAUNCHED
NIH plans to start recognizing more than one PI on research grants and contracts
Beginning in May 2006, the NIH expects to start receiving applications that name more than one PI. Initially, this capacity will be restricted to a small number of pre-announced Requests for Applications (RFAs) and Program Announcements (PAs). A phased approach will allow us to test this very complex adaptation of our administrative systems in order to ensure that everything is working correctly before we open it up to all applicants. A timeline for the complete roll-out will be announced in the near future.
